Chirp

I co-founded a start-up, Chirp, with a fellow hockey parent and developer. We set out to solve a very specific but universal problem in youth hockey: the frustration of handwriting 20+ player names on every game scoresheet.

Simplifying Youth Hockey

Our goal was simple: build a tool that saves time, looks sharp, and brings a little joy back to game day for parents and coaches. Chirp is a team-branded text-to-PDF platform that turns one roster entry into professional, printable score sheet labels sized perfectly for the USA Hockey Official Scoresheet. Parents and coaches enter their team details once and use them all season. No more rewriting names by hand.

I led a 0 to 1 product design process, from the onboarding flow and text-entry interface to the e-commerce checkout and brand identity. The product name, Chirp, comes from hockey slang for good-natured “trash talk,” embodying the brand’s confident, playful tone.

Results

Since launch, Chirp has gained early traction among youth hockey teams and associations, validating strong product-market fit within this niche audience. The MVP’s success inspired a roadmap toward a broader “hockey team in a box” platform, offering customizable printables, giftables, and fan products that strengthen parent–child connection through the shared culture of the game.
